Make Music NWCT, June 21st!

The Arts Council is hosting the 3rd Annual Make Music NWCT, June 21st!
The Northwest CT Arts Council is proud to be a part of this international celebration of music, after two successful Make Music Day events in 2018 and 2019. Whether it is socially-distant live performances, or social media live stream takeovers, the well-loved event will go on despite the pandemic.
Registration is open for venues and musicians across Northwest CT at makemusicday.org/nwct.
Through the online Make Music Day platform, venues and musicians will be able to match up and schedule performances for the day.
People of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to create music at participating venues all over the region on the longest day of the year. All performances will be free and open to the public, to allow access to music performances to communities that might not otherwise have the opportunity to witness.
As situations develop with COVID-19, venues and musicians should use their discretion when signing up to participate, and get creative to host safe and socially distant performances. Venues are strongly encouraged to register as soon as possible, and start promoting their participation in this event.

“I am so excited to coordinate Make Music Day this year! Listening and viewing live performances will be as special as ever after we have been quarantined all spring. I am looking forward to the creative and innovative ways venues and performers will execute both live and virtual performances. I can’t wait to celebrate the summer solstice with a day full of local music.” says Maddie Stenson, Program Director of the NWCT Arts Council.
Last year, Make Music NWCT featured 44 musicians, 24 venues, with a total of 65 performances throughout the day.
Amelia Ellis, a Make Music spectator in Torrington said, "It was wonderful to be able to go someplace so full of life, magic, and color after a long day at work.
Make Music Day this year was a celebration of the city for what it is. It was a celebration of the local talent and the local audience -- the people who live here and the people who make Torrington a genuine city."
