Our Culture is Beautiful Host Laugh Out Loud

Drums and laughter filled the atmosphere, while Our Culture is Beautiful hosted their Laugh Out Loud event at Five Point Gallery on Saturday April 24th. We were able to play instrumentals and participate in the drum circle! I picked up the tambourine with excitement. The conversations about the arts and how it helps us as a human being to cope with life. Beautiful words from Effie and Angaza, including amazing performances by Coleus with guest drummers, Ghazi, Steve on conga drums, and myself (Ysanne) singing a couple songs. Amy from Mental Health gave us stats about how laughter makes dopamine (“happy hormone”), promoting our happiness and positive attitude.  Ngola shared his research about Vitamin D deficiency and how it can affect our wellbeing on a larger scale. The event ended with a jam session, whether playing an instrument or dancing. Check out the pictures below. Be sure to follow OCiB to keep up to date on their next event.
