The Salisbury Forum
Dr.Joshua Ginsberg will present “Why I'm an Environmental Optimist”at the Salisbury Forum. He cites as positive developments theeconomics of alternative energy, one of the fastest growing sectorsof the economy, and the energy storage systems which now make itpossible for some places to be off the grid entirely.
Dr. Ginsberg is President of the Cary Institute of EcosystemStudies in Millbrook, NY. His career in conservation science spans35 years and several continents. During the 1980s and 1990s, he ledecology and conservation projects in Asia and East and SouthernAfrica. He has been an adjunct professor at Columbia Universitysince 1998 and has helped manage Columbia’s Center forEnvironmental Research and Conservation. He has also been a ResearchFellow in Ecology at the Zoological Society of London, HonoraryResearch Fellow and Lecturer at University College London, andResearch Fellow at Oxford University.
Dr. Ginsberg earned his B.S. from Yale University and his Ph.D.from Princeton University. He serves on the boards of the OceanFoundation, the Open Space Institute, and the CatskillMountainkeeper, and is a member of the advisory council of theAmerican Museum of Natural History's Center for Biodiversity andConservation.
