State of Abstraction
Co-Curated by WAA Exhibitions Committee members Daphne Anderson Deeds and Jacqueline Gleisner, State of Abstraction is an exhibition of contemporary abstract art by Connecticut artists. The selected works will be exhibited in both the Washington Art Association & Gallery building and the Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens exhibition space. Deeds is a former art museum curator and administrator at civic and university museums including the Smart Museum at the University of Chicago and Yale University Art Gallery. Her consultancy serves artist estates, museums, contemporary artists and collectors. Gleisner is an artist and writer who frequently contributes to Art21 Online Magazine. She is currently Practitioner in Residence at the University of New Haven.
This exhibition will feature selected works by Connie Pfeiffer, Bob Knox, Olu Ogibe, Tim Prentice, Roxanne Faber Savage, Janet Lage, Howard El-Yasin, Ryan Paxton, Joe Fucigna, Elizabeth Gourlay, Susan Bhutan, Zachary Keeting, Julia Coash, Cat Balco, David Livingston and Hong Hong.
