Film: James Thurber: The Life and Hard Times
On Sunday, November 10, at 4pm, the Hotchkiss Library will host artist, author, and filmmaker Adam Van Doren, who will present his documentary James Thurber: The Life and Hard Times at the Sharon Town Hall. The film follows the life of James Thurber, prolific contributor of both cartoons and prose to The New Yorker. Narrated by George Plimpton and including interviews with writers and artists, such as John Updike, Fran Lebowitz, and Roy Blount, Jr., the film is described as “a labor of love by Adam Van Doren… the first major biographical film about the wit that many consider second only to Mark Twain as an American Humorist” (Boston Globe). Van Doren will give a brief talk after the film. Registration requested. For more information or to register, please call 860 364-5041. Information is also available at www.hotchkisslibrary.org.
