April Stay-cation - Tasty Tuesday
Spring Break - "The Week of The Young Child."
This fun, food themed day is about more than just cheese and crackers. Cooking together connects math with literacy skills, science, and more. With the rise in childhood obesity, you can encourage healthy nutrition and fitness habits at home and in the classroom.
Highlights of the day :
10:00 - 10:30 Step into a Story : A yummy pancake storytime in the Tree House! Including, Pancakes for Breakfast by Tomie DePaola and If You Give a Pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff
10:30 - 11:15 STEM : Let's Make Pancakes! Join us to mix, cook, and eat. 11:15 - Find out how we taste food. Have fun exploring the mouth with Brooker Memorial Staff! 12:00 - 12:30 : Eating a Rainbow - Vegetables come in all colors and shapes! Build a plate and mix up a dip for tasting. Let's read and sing De Colores, illustrated by David Diaz 2:00 Hands on storytime : Dining with monsters! Build a fruit monster to gobble up, take a picture with your monster on a plate then read some monstrously good stories.
All day Maker Space Challenge : Do you have a favorite meal or recipe? Write it up or sculpt it. Add it to the KidsPlay cookbook for other children and families to enjoy.
