All Hands on Deck: Torrington and World War I Exhibit
This exhibit will explore Torrington’s many contributions during World War I. Learn the stories of the men and women who served in the military. Discover the history of the home front activities including those of the Torrington residents who volunteered for the Red Cross and the Home Guard, women who worked in factories, and industries that changed their product line to produce goods for the armed services. Featuring WWI military artifacts, WWI posters, photographs of veterans and more. Including a complete list of the 1400 Torrington men and women who entered the armed forces and served stateside or in Europe. The exhibit also reveals the above average number of immigrant men from Torrington who served in the WWI.
