“A Random Stroll through Detective Fiction”.
This is the second half of Jim Fishman's earlier talk on detective fiction. In 2017 the most books by subject checked out of the Cornwall and many other neighboring libraries were detective fiction and crime novels. Jim Fishman, an admitted addict of the genre, will focus on the so-called Anglo-American “golden age” of the detective story-- the period between the World Wars-- and beyond. He will offer vignettes of the leading writers, a surprising number of whom used pseudonyms despite, or perhaps because of being distinguished in other fields. Every writer he’ll mention is represented in the Cornwall Library’s excellent collection. He will also recommend some authors and detective novels that may be unfamiliar.
