Who: The event features artists who are open to showing their creative spaces and processes to the public.
Why: To shine a bright light on the many artists who live and work in our region and to give the audience a greater understanding and appreciation for the art work and creative process.
Deadline to Apply: April 1st, 2018
Saturday, June 30th 2018 from 10 - 5 pm
Sunday, July 1st 2018 from 10 - 4 pm
Note: Artists must participate for both days.
Where: The studios and spaces of artists, of the exhibit site for local Artists in the towns and municipalities of Cornwall, Goshen and Warren, CT. If an Artist prefers to use an alternative temporary space, they must understand the event's mission, which is to show the artist's process in an engaging way. Artists must present at the site for the hours of the tour and display items that will recreate their studio environment and help present and explain their creative and technical processes to the public.
How Much: Admission for the PUBLIC to all studios/sites on the tour is free, thanks to the sponsors of the Tour. For Artists wanting to participate, there is a $50 registration fee and artists must be a NW CT Arts Council member in good standing. See below for membership links. Participants will donate 20% of their proceeds totaling $250 from sales during the tour weekend to the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council's Open Your Eyes restricted fund. Although "sales" are not the priority of this event, we will be encouraging visitors to consider "collecting local art"
How: The Northwest Connecticut Arts Council will manage, market, and produce this event. This will include, but not be limited to the design and development of an event-specific webpage (p.s.-you're looking at it!!); e-newsletter, radio and print advertisements, tour map, event signage and publicity for all participating studios and spaces.
Participants have either a studio or other "space", together with public parking sufficient to accommodate a number of visitors (usually 4-6 cars at a time at most). A representative of the Arts Council will conduct a site visit once registration is complete to help make these determinations.
