WHAT IS A CLEARINGHOUSE EVENT?
A Clearinghouse Event is any major benefit event for a non-profit organization in either the planning stage or the definite stage. The Clearinghouse is a tool to help your and other organizations avoid planning their major annual benefit events on the same dates.
Even if your event is not considered a "Cultural Event", you can be included as a Clearinghouse Event if you are doing a major annual benefit event (for instance: NW CT Chamber of Commerce “Celebration of Excellence” Dinner; or The Litchfield Hills Bike-a-thon).
This is a tool for any non-profit organization in NW CT to avoid conflicts with other benefit events in the area.
Non-profits, both cultural and otherwise, shoulld use the Events Calendar to:
- check that a date being considered is not being used by a fellow-non-profit in the area for a major benefit event
- MARK the date for all fellow-non-profits to see when they are checking the calendar to avoid conflicts, by entering your benefit event on the Council's Events Calendar and clicking the Clearinghouse button at the end of the online event submission form.
You can enter your benefit event, even before all details are in hand, and of course when you have all your details as well. You can also up-date your listing later as more details are put in place. In addition to a date, you should at least have a location, and name of organization.
