October Fall Events in Northwest CT

Looking for a festive fall event this October? Northwest CT is the place to be! From hayrides to haunted trails, family-friendly fairs and late-night spooky adventures - this little corner of the world is the textbook definition of autumn charm. Waldingfield Farm in Washington, CT - Wednesday, October 18th from 1:30-4:30 - Join Farmer Patrick and artist Kaitlin Clark for an afternoon of exploration and creativity at Waldingfield Farm. Farmer Patrick will take visitors on a tour to learn how local food systems and organic farming affect our lives and the world around us, and a healthful snack will be provided. At the art station with Kaitlin, students will create wearable art and jewelry with sun prints, or cyanotypes, an early form of photographic art. Bussing to Waldingfield Farm provided for Region 12 students after school at 12:45pm. Participants must be picked up from the farm at 4:30pm.

Action Wildlife: Fall Festival on the Zoo farm by day, Haunted Houe by Night

Where: 435 Torrington Rd, Goshen, CT

Fall Festival Dates: Sat & Sunday Sept. 23 - Oct. 28, 10am-5pm

Haunted House Dates: Friday, Sat. & Sunday Septmeber 29th - October 29th 7pm-10pm


During the day, we will feature a variety of fall activities for kids and adults, such as hay rides through the animals, a corn pit, a hay maze, our petting zoo, and, of course, pumpkins! Parents can pick from a selection of local craft brews and wine to enjoy as they tour the museum and view the decorations throughout the park. At night, the park closes, and the area by the museum transforms into a ghost town with unspeakable happenings and disappearances. The farm's haunted house is an exciting experience for anyone over 13. It has a variety of thrilling scenes that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Connecticut Garlic & Harvest Festival 

Where: 384 Main St N, Bethlehem, CT

Dates: Sat, Oct 7, 6 AM – Sun, Oct 8, 2 PM


This event enlivens Bethlehem Fairgrounds every year on the weekend in early October. Also known as Bethlehem Garlic Festival, this amazing harvest celebration focuses on garlic-based produce, showcased through the fair, a food court, cooking demonstrations, and how-to-grow-garlic lectures. Beyond all things garlic, you can also indulge in live band performances while your kids enjoy the festivals' rides and games.

The Rocky Horror Show

Not So Spooky Halloween Bash

Where: Torrington Library, Torrington CT

Dates: Saturday October 14th from 4-7pm

  • Welcome all ages to Trick or Treat throughout the Library from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm!
  • Haunted Freeze Dance Battles will be at 4:30, 5:00, and 5:30 - prizes for participants!

Pumpkin Run, Field Day, & Fall Festival 

Where: 100 Bentley Drive, Harwinton CT 

Dates: October 14 @ 10am 


The Run/Walk will begin promptly at 10:00am with registration beginning at 8:30am the day of the event! The Run is 3.1 miles through Harwinton and the walk is a 2 mile route. There will also be a kids dash at the Town Hall!


After the race is completed, our Field Day and Fall Festival kicks off! We will have games, events, vendors, food trucks, live music, face painting, a pumpkin decorating contest, a scarecrow decorating contest, and so much more! This is very much a family and community oriented event that will have fun for all ages. Each field will be dedicated to a different event type or contest throughout the day, and we will have over 10 vendors, raffle items, giveaways and much more!

Cemetery Walk 

Where: Forest View Cemetery, Winsted CT

Costumed interpretors representing residents from the past will await you at their gravestones where they will tell you about their lives and the rich history of Winsted and Winchester.

Scarecrows in the Meadow

Where: Tapping Reeve Meadow (82 South Street)

The Scarecrows are Coming! The Litchfield Historical Society is excited to announce the return of its 4th Annual Scarecrows in the Meadows, a community event for families to celebrate the end of the harvest season. Register to make a scarecrow HERE!


Everyone is invited to explore the assembly of more than fifty scarecrows, all created by local businesses, non-profits, and families. The open celebration will feature a scarecrow making challenge, storytelling with KidsPlay Children’s Museum, and fall crafts and activities all day.

Spooky Science Night at KidsPlay!

Have you ever wanted the chance to be a mad scientist? Spooky Science Night is the perfect opportunity! In honor of National Chemistry week, we will discover the fun of chemistry through spooky and exciting experiments!

Stories That  Keep You Up at Night - Lantern Tours

Where: The Tapping Reeve Meadow (82 South Street)

Dates: October 20th and 26th, 5:30-6:30pm


Join us for a special spooky night of Litchfield’s most frightening and gruesome true stories! The tour starts at the Tapping Reeve Meadow where we will enjoy historically inspired cocktails and treats before grabbing lanterns and heading into the darkness to learn about the violent and scandalous side of Litchfield’s history.  

 

The walk will begin under the Pavilion at the Tapping Reeve Meadow and lasts approximately 1 hour.

Fall Craft Fair 2023 

Where: Larsons Garden Center Burlington CT

Larson's will be selling fall items including pumpkins, mums, hay bales, and other fall decor. We will also have activities for kids including crafts and games.
